Can you believe it's June 12???
June Candle of the Month is Blackberry Sage (and it's my personal favorite of the moment)!
It's been two months since our last post but we're still here! Life has been a little bit crazy but we are here and making up some awesome candles! May's Candle of the Month is Unwashed Linen. I'll have June's Candle of the Month coming up soon!
It is with mixed feelings that we announce that we will will not be at the Franklin Farmer's Market, as we are unable to fully commit to every Friday this year. We are so incredibly grateful that we were able to participate in last year's farmer's market, as it did so many great things for 46 Oak. We are unable to fully commit this year for the right reasons - Dave was able to find a guidance counselor job(YAH!) so our Friday availability is severely limited. We will still be at the Strawberry Stroll and the pro.Found Market in Lancaster, MA. Click on "Where to find us" above to see where you can find our products!
Hoping we get some nice weather soon!
The weather outside is (still) frightful but we have some awesome floral scented candles to get you through the rest of this cold weather! PLUS - 20% off candles with our old label!! We never run sales (this is our first) so get them before we run out!
It may be snowing outside, but we've got Rosemary Mint Candles on the brain! Check out our Candle of the Month listing to ensure you don't miss out on our brand new scents!
Hope you're having a great start to 2018! We are quite busy in the Ulm house, working on candles, the website and DAVE GOT A COUNSELING JOB!!!! So we are beyond excited! Wahoo!
On the 46 Oak front, I am so excited to be introducing new labels designed by the talented Mrs Emily King. You should check her out!
I am also working on getting listings up on the site AND on my product photography AND on developing new scents AND getting 46 Oak into local stores! So many exciting things happening in the Ulm house and at 46 Oak!
Thank you for your support! I would love to hear which stores you would like to see 46 Oak in!
Last year was the year to learn the lesson, "Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should." So I've decided to take a different approach with this website and blog. I am now going to be focusing on candles, with this page being a personal blog.
Looking to purchase candles? I am working on getting a shop up and running on this site. In the meantime, please use my Etsy site (46oak.etsy.com) to place orders. Cheers to an amazing 2018. We all deserve it!
In this series, I will highlight some of my favorite spots! Up first - Fletcher Field in Franklin, MA!
Fletcher Field is an awesome park for the whole family, including smaller children. The park is located within walking distance of downtown, on the Exit 16 side of town.
In addition to three baseball fields (two of which are fenced in), a basketball court, batting cages, bike racks, swings and playground structures, the park is a nice wide-open field that is great for flying a kite on a windy day!
In the past couple of years, the town put in a play structure specifically for the toddler set. And our son L.O.V.E.S. to play on the new slides!
You can also grab hot dogs and popcorn on baseball game days. What better way to enjoy Springtime??
Parking is plentiful with two lots, one on each side of the park. Although the lots do get full on baseball game days, there is plenty of parking on the side streets that surround Fletcher Field!
Top: One parking lot on the Peck St side; Bottom: Two parking lots on the Wachusett St side.
Hi everyone and welcome back!
My husband and I moved to Franklin, MA about 4.5 years ago. We immediately fell in love with our house - generally a huge no-no but we knew it was "the one." It was built in 1880, has an updated kitchen while maintaining it's original hardwood floors, has a front porch AND a great back deck and has a fabulous backyard with a patio for a fire pit. Sitting at 3 beds, 2 baths, it was (and still is) the perfect size for us and our growing family!
We really lucked out and haven't had to do a lot to the house over the last few years. So we decided this is the year to get started on some of those "long-term" items.
First up - a new fence. We had an old 4' cedar wood fence around the front side of the yard and a 6' cedar wood fence around part of the side yard but the rest of the side yard and the back yard were not fenced in. With a high prey drive dog and a 2.5 year old, we really needed a fence around the entire yard to keep everyone safe and contained. When a storm came along and (literally) blew down part of the old fence, we decided it was time!
We went with white vinyl picket in the front and part of the side yard, and black coated chain link around the rest of the yard with gates between us and our neighbors. Our quality of life has shot through the ceiling now that we don't have to worry about anyone escaping and we can spend more time outside!
